April Elections Reminder
Terms will be up for reelection this April for three seats on the Board of Directors. All seats are for 3-year terms. Could one of those seats have your name on it?
If you are a go-getter who is interested in helping to effect positive change within the community by serving on the board, the first thing you’ll need to do is declare your intent to run. Your intention to run should be in writing and must be received via email or US Mail by 5:00 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022. All homeowners who will be running will be announced at the board meeting on February 19, 2022. [Note: I have not yet heard from ANYONE, so if you’ve been thinking about running, now’s the time to throw your hat into the ring!]
Here is the contact information for declaring your intent to run:
If you’ve got questions about board member responsibilities and/or obligations, feel free to ask. If you’d like to see the board in action, join us for the next meeting on Saturday, February 19, 2022 to see what it’s all about.
Annual Homeowner Meeting
Our annual meeting of homeowners will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10:00 am, and will once again be held virtually via Zoom video conferencing. (Thanks, Covid…) More emails will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead regarding meeting packets and ballots, so keep an eye out!
Phase I Townhome Painting
The painters will be back this year for Phase I of exterior townhome trim painting. If your townhome is on lot numbers 3 through 38, you are in Phase I, and you are on the schedule for trim and front door painting starting in May (weather permitting, as always). If you don’t know your lot number, this group includes all homes on Capes Loop, all homes on Capes Point, and the following Capes Drive addresses: 405, 415, 425, 433, 445, 455, 465 and 475.
Please note – the painters cannot paint over trim boards that are rotten. If you have trim that needs to be repaired or replaced and you can have that done before the painting starts, then it can be painted with the rest of the house, but if you aren’t able to get it fixed prior, our painters will skip that board and whoever replaces it for you will need to paint it as well.
More information will be sent out as we get closer to the start date. (For example, what the actual start date will be.)
Fundraiser Update and Calendars
Thank you all so much for another successful fundraiser to benefit the Netarts Oceanside Rural Fire Protection District. Thanks to your generous donations as well as the Charles Becker Foundation for its $5,000 match, we were able to raise a total of $26,648.75 in 2021! This brings our total donations raised over the last two years of fundraising to a little over $60,000 so far!
I say “so far” because we still have some of our 2022 Capes wall calendars left, and all proceeds from those sales will be donated to the NORFPD as well. Even if you don’t really use a hard-copy calendar so much anymore, the photos alone are worth the $15 donation!
If you don’t like hanging a calendar on the wall, we have another option for you. Through a printer error, we ended up with 36 calendars that have all of the photos printed upside-down. I discovered that all you need is something sturdy to stand one on, and it now works perfectly as a desk calendar! (I built a wedge-shaped “stand” for mine out of a cardboard box in about 2 minutes.) I have one sitting on my desk…the calendar portion faces me, and the (now right-side-up) photo faces outward for all to see.
If you haven’t ordered your calendar yet, it’s not too late. Send me an email and let me know how many you’d like!
